Scrapbooking Layout Ideas
Hello and welcome to my site where I will provide you with all the scrapbooking layout ideas you will ever need.
My name is Vicki and I have been creating scrapbook layouts for a number of years and have learnt many superb techniques and tips to share with you.
This site is designed not only to guide you though different ways of creating fantastic scrapbooking page ideas and layouts but to share some of my own scrapbook ideas and hopefully yours as well.
There is also a forum which I check on a daily basis, for you to ask questions and share your ideas, tips and layouts, as well as a free newsletter providing the latest news for keen scrapbook makers.
For many people when they first start out making a scrapbook they are faced with an overwhelming amount of products and information to a point where it is sometimes difficult to know where to start first. My aim is to give you detailed and specific information on how to use products, save money and make your scrapbook ideas come to life.
When creating your scrapbook layouts always try to use acid free products to stop your pages and photos from discoloring and deteriorating over time. Many scrapbook enthusiasts use acetate which is a plastic film that can be used in many applications. You can stamp onto it using rubber stamps; use it for making shaker cards or make embellishments appear to hang independently. You can also paint acetate with glass paints and glitter glues.
You will need to have the right adhesives when making your scrapbook page layouts in order to stick one material to another without making a mess. Common craft adhesives include glue dots, glue sticks, double sided tape and photo stickers. I will show you the best adhesives to use for your pages in the step by step guides here on the site.
As well as adhesives you can also use brads and eyelets to secure embellishments to your scrapbook layouts. Brads are an essential part of your scrapbook supplies. They are available in a wide range of colors, shapes and designs. Brads have two prongs at the back much like a split pin and are pushed through the scrapbook paper and flattened to hold them in place. You will find a wide selection of brads on the step by step guides to help you think up new and exciting scrapbook ideas.
Like brads, eyelets are a great way to attach various embellishments to your scrapbook pages. Eyelets are simple metal fasteners with holes in the middle. Once attached to your page you can then pass ribbon and threads through them.
To help make your ideas for scrapbook pages varied and colorful you will need to have certain basic tools and supplies. If you are anything like me you will soon be buying more rubber stamps than you probably should. Rubber stamps are a staple of any scrapbook enthusiast’s collection and there are literally thousands to choose from. Once you have rubber stamped an image you can simply sprinkle embossing powder, which is a fine powder and available in many different colors over the rubber stamped image and heat with a heat gun to create a raised image. Using a slow drying ink when stamping allows the embossing powders to easily stick to the image as it is water based ink that dries slowly.
There are many techniques in scrapbooking such as matting which is also known as mat and layering. It is a process where a layer of paper is built up to produce a frame around an image or embellishment.
Some scrapbooking terms and tools will be new to scrapbook beginners such as a brayer, bone tool, embossing powder, decoupage and distressing to name but a few. Once you start making your scrapbook layouts you will soon learn the jargon and find using the various tools second nature. After making some of my scrapbooking ideas yourself it won’t be long before you are a dab hand with a heat gun, gel pens and glitter glue.
They say every picture tells a story which is true but the best scrapbook ideas are the ones with great scrapbook quotes on their pages. This is one of the many benefits of having your favorite photos in a scrapbook, rather than a standard photo album. You can add as much information in your journaling as you like, about when and where the photo was taken, and add a description about the day or occasion to help you recall the time in question. You can handwrite your scrapbook quotes or use scrapbook stickers and rub-ons.
There really are endless possibilities to make some fantastic scrapbooking pages and I hope you find inspiration and new ways here on my site to make your pages unique and bring joy to you, your family and friends for many years to come.
Adding themes to your scrapbooking layout ideas by selecting the right scrapbook paper, detailed embellishments, scrapbook stickers and journaling will further enhance your photos and improve the reader’s experience. Furthermore it will set the mood and provide a far more memorable experience for you to look back on over time.
As well as scrapbook ideas for beginners I will also add step by step guides and information to this site to accommodate the more experienced scrapbook makers. Scrapbooking is a wonderful hobby which can be shared and appreciated by the whole family. Once you get the scrapbooking bug it won’t be long before you are making unique and beautiful ideas for scrapbook pages
