Scrapbooking Layout Ideas – Pony Scrapbook Page

Pony scrapbook page

To help you with your scrapbooking layout ideas I have created this scrapbook page to give a beautiful feeling of the great outdoors. The background of this 12 x 12 scrapbook paper is a beige color and has leaves already printed on the paper. I felt this particular sheet of scrapbook paper really sets the scene as the photo is of a pony standing amongst the trees in a wooded area.

To begin with and before placing the picture onto the scrapbook page I rummaged through my scrapbooking supplies and found a piece of paper that was brown in color. I then cut it to the same size as the photo. Rather than mat and layer the picture I placed the brown piece of paper at an angle and placed the photo on top. I used double sided tape to attach both the photo to the brown paper.

I then searched through my rubber stamps and found a stamp that was the shape of a leaf. Again this fitted in with the overall theme of the page so I stamped and embossed some leaves on the same brown paper I used for the backing behind the photo.

I attached the leaves around the photo to give the idea that the leaves are holding the photo in place.

Using black and brown inks to stamp the image made each leaf look ever so slightly different. You could also use 3D foam to attach the stamped image if you wanted to give it more depth, or even use a crackle glaze, or deep embossing powder to give your layout a completely different look.

This particular scrapbook journaling was done by writing about the scene using vellum paper. This is a good place to explain what is happening in the photo and where you were when it was taken. It is also a place to make notes about the way you felt, what the weather was like and anything else you may forget in years to come. I find handwriting this makes it more personal, however you could print this from a computer or use peel off scrapbook stickers if you prefer.

I also used the same rubber stamp to stamp the leaf onto the vellum. I would always recommend a quick drying ink such as Stazon when using rubber stamps on vellum as it takes less time to dry than normal ink and you will not run the risk of smudging the stamped image.

Because vellum paper is transparent it is always difficult to attach to paper with out unsightly glue or tape showing. This is a great time to dig around in your scrapbooking supplies and pull out those brads you have been hoarding away! Here, I have used little dragonfly brads to attach the vellum to the scrapbook page which I thought was a great addition to this scrapbooking layout idea.
