Scrapbooking Layout Ideas – Birds In A Tree

birds in a tree scrapbooking page

The main focus for this scrapbooking page idea is birds. The photos are of birds sitting on rocks in the countryside so the bird theme has been carried on through the scrapbook page layout.

As you can see the shape of the tree has been cut from brown and green paper. It is important to attach the green part first and then place the trunk on the top in order for the branches to remain visible. The tree has been drawn free hand as it is a fairly easy shape to draw and you may struggle to find a tree big enough to stand out on a 12 x 12 sheet of scrapbooking paper.

The trunk has been drawn and cut from Brazil card stock as this type of card has a texture that looks like wood so works very well for the tree branches.

The leaves were made using a leaf punch. They have been punched from the same scrapbook paper as the tree so they correspond with what is already on the page. The leaves have been placed along the bottom of the page to give the impression they have just fallen from the tree.

One of the great things about scrapbooking is you can exaggerate some aspects to fit in with your scrapbooking layout ideas so your embellishments do not necessarily need to be exact or fit perfectly. For example here the leaves are large but they do not look out of place, so it works really well.

The little bird is a peel off scrapbook sticker that has been placed onto brown card stock and then cut out. The bird has been placed onto the branch of the tree using double sided tape.

owl stamped image

The owl is a stamped image that has been colored using water pencils. Again it has been placed onto one of the tree branches.

scrapbook quotes

Most scrapbook layout ideas contain some form of wording or scrapbook quotes. In this case part of a children’s nursery rhyme has been used to fit the theme for this bird scrapbook page. The number two is made from chipboard, with the rest of the words having been written free hand. It is important to remember to use acid free pens when writing anything on your scrapbook pages.

jounalling on a scrapbook page

The journaling part of this scrapbook page has been written on a die cut shape that can be purchased either online or from your local craft shop. You can have a rummage in your scrapbook supplies and use up some of your dies cuts or alternatively you can make your own by using a sizzix machine or drawing the shape free hand.

This is one of my favorite scrapbooking layout ideas as it was great fun to make.
