Scrapbook Layout Ideas – A Boy With His Grandparents

scrapbook paper

Making your scrapbook layout ideas is a fantastic way to record special moments in time.
To make this scrapbook page layout you will need two matching pieces of paper. In this case I have selected a piece of paper that has shapes along the edge of the page. If you can not find the exact same paper then you can use blue plain scrapbook paper and cut out your own shapes from a different piece of scrapbooking paper.

cutting scrapbook paper

From the second sheet of paper cut the matching shapes out using sharp scissors. If you do not have two sheets of the same paper as I did here, you will need to cut your own shapes out and do each one twice.

squares cut from scrapbook paper

As this scrapbook page is for a baby boy I have used blue. If you are making your scrapbooking page layout for a girl then you may want to have a look in your scrapbook supplies for more girl orientated colours such as pink, purple or yellow.

3D foam on scrapbook paper

The reason two of each of the shapes have been cut is so that they can be made to stand out using 3D foam. Attach the 3D foam to each of the shapes.

Carefully position the shape that has the 3D foam on top of the matching shape. Once this has been fixed you will not be able to reposition it so make sure you get it right before pressing down and fixing it in place.

Once all the shapes have been attached, the edge of the scrapbook page will have some depth.

two pieces of scrapbook paper

You will then need to select two pieces of corresponding scrapbook paper. Here I have used blue and brown spotty paper as this matches the paper that has been used down the edge of the scrapbook page.

shape drawn onto scrapbook paper

On the rear side of the scrapbook paper draw a shape that is similar to the shapes down the edge of the main scrapbook page. Make the shape bigger that the ones down the edge and cut one from each of the two sheets of scrapbook paper.

As you can see here I have made each shape point in the opposite direction. I have attached these to the scrapbook page using double sided tape.

photographs for scrapbook layout

You then need to select your photographs. Here I have a little boy with each of his grandparents. Each photo has been mounted onto card, one onto blue and one onto brown, to match the papers that have been used in the base of the scrapbook page.

You can then place the photographs onto each of the large shapes.

tags on a scrapbook page

You will then need some tags. Here I have used some paper tags that can be jazzed up using bits and bobs from my craft supplies.

tags cut out for a scrapbook page

If you are cutting your tags from paper use sharp scissors or a craft knife. You may be using tags that have been cut from a sizzix machine or pre made ones which will already be cut for you.

tags mounted on blue paper to be added to a scrapbook page layout

I have mounted the tags onto dark blue card, however depending on which colours you may want, have a look through your craft supplies and dig out some more feminine colours.

journalling on a scrapbook page

Tags are great for journaling or adding text. I used rub on letters to place the name of the baby and the year the photographs were taken. It is down to you what information you add to your tags but I would always recommend putting a date in any of your scrapbook layout ideas, so that in years to come you can remember the time.

tags with ribbon on a scrapbook page

Eyelets and ribbon add a nice texture to a scrapbook page and tags are a great place to put them. Here I have used brown and blue ribbon but again you may need to add more feminine colours if your photographs are of a little girl.

scrapbook quotes

Another, larger tag has been added, and also mounted onto the same brown card. You may find this a good place to add your scrapbook quotes as I did here.

ribbon on a scrapbook page

At this point I felt the scrapbook page was looking a little flat so I decided to add some ribbon. I placed a mixture of bows and knots in each of the shapes down the side of the page.

I used a large sticky dot to hold the ribbon in place however if you do not have these in your craft supplies then a brad or some extra strong double sided tape will also work.

Place the tags near the photographs and you’re done. You should be left with a really lovely scrapbook page layout that can be made using all different colours depending on the theme of the photos.
