Creating Your first Scrapbook Layout
Creating Your first Scrapbook Page Layout
If you are new to making scrapbook albums you may find that creating your first page layout may seem like a daunting task. As long as you take your time and plan things carefully you will soon find that creating page layouts is a really fun and rewarding past time.
The first thing you need to do is find some photos and put them into categories. Gather as many as you can so you have lots to choose from. Consider who the scrapbook is for when choosing these pictures so that they are ones that person will want to see.
Begin by sorting your photos into categories such as birthday, wedding, get together, Christmas etc. As you are sorting through try to remember as much as you can about the event, where it was held, when it was and who attended.
Once you have everything in order you need to choose one category that you wish to use for your scrapbook page layout. Take a close look at all the pictures from the chosen event and decide which ones are good enough to go on your scrapbook page. Remember you do not need to use lots of photos from as little as 1-3 will do.
If you are going to have a lot of writing on your scrapbook page you may need to reduce the number of photos you are using. Try not to waffle when journaling, stick to the main points, names, dates and venues. You can also add scrapbook quotes and sayings to describe the mood of the day.
Use scrapbook paper and embellishments which you can get from any craft store to jazz up the page layout but try not to over do it. Many new scrapbook makers smother their pages in embellishments which detract from the importance of the photos on the page.
You do not necessarily have to match everything together perfectly and remember to add any memorabilia you have from the event. Adding scrapbook stickers, ticket stubs, receipts and other memorabilia can really make a scrapbook page layout personal and unique.
A good idea especially if you are new to scrapbooking it is well worth laying out your scrapbook page before you permanently fix it down. This way you will be able to see what the end result will be and make any changes you wish to make before it is too late.
The thing to remember is to enjoy it. Make sure you have plenty of time to sit down, relax and take pleasure in creating your very first scrapbook page layout. As time passes you will soon pick up scrapbooking techniques and ideas that will help you create many more stunning scrapbook page layouts
