Making scrapbook page layouts is the best way to show off your pictures in a fun and interesting way. This scrapbook ideas layout consists of four photos, however if you wanted to add even more you could easily do so by using smaller photos.

You will need to select a sheet of 12×12 cardstock from your craft supplies. Here, I have used a bazzill bling card as it has a slightly sparkly, shiny appearance to it making it a bit more glitzy and pleasing to the eye.

You will then need to select a sheet of scrapbook paper that consists of large leaves as this is going to be used as part of the background.

Using a scalpel, carefully cut away some of the leaves so that you are left with a fan of leaves that appear to be growing from one corner of the page layout.

Place the leaves you have just cut out on top of the black cardstock. It is important that you do not stick the leaves down at this point as you are going to place photos behind them.

To stop the papers sliding about you can stick down the very corner of the plant.

Have a hunt through all the photos you may wish to use for this scrapbook page idea. Remember you will be cutting these photos so if you do not have a copy, now would be a good time to scan and print an extra set of the pictures, just in case you do make a mistake.

Cut your pictures to size and randomly position where they look best on the paper. Position the leaves so they cover some of the picture and look as if they are holding the photos in place.

Once you are happy with what you have, you can now secure the leaves and pictures in place with glue or double sided tape.

You will then need to find some animal print card for your scrapbook quotes. Here I have used three different print patterns, however if you do not have different types in your craft supplies you can use just one.

Attach your scrapbook quotes to the bottom corner of the page layout using double sided tape.

This scrapbook ideas simple design is very cheap to make as you will use very little from your craft supplies. If you have any animal themed embellishments you could also add these in the top left hand corner of the page, however, I personally believe when you have so many photos less is more.

Scrapbook ideas are easy to think up

if you already have the theme in mind which is pre determined by the event you wish to base your scrapbooking page layout on.

This zoo themed scrapbook ideas design

is both colourful and exciting. Although you may not have pictures of a boy looking like a tiger you could use the same layout for some photos of a tiger at the zoo.

It is always a good idea to draw or roughly layout out on a sheet of paper the design you are intending to follow and adapt it along the way if necessary.

Firstly, you will need to find a sheet of orange 12×12  scrapbook paper. I find bazzill paper is a good paper to use because it has a slight texture to it. It is also thicker than normal scrapbook paper so gives you a good base to start your page layout on.

To create the paw prints draw a paw print shape on some funky foam and cut it out using very sharp scissors so that the edges are neat.

Attach the pieces that make up the paw print to a clear block using a glue stick.

If you do not have a clear block stamp you can use the back of an existing stamp. The advantage to using a clear block stamp is the fact you can see through it and know exactly where your stamped images will go on the page.

Ink your custom made stamp with black ink and randomly place the paw prints over the scrapbook page as shown in the above photo.

Next, tear a strip of tiger print scrapbook paper the length of your 12×12 page so it fits from one corner to the other.

Attach the strip of paper across the page using double sided tape to hold it in place. At this point you may find you have covered up some of the paw prints and can now add additional ones paw prints if you wish.

Tear a piece of black cardstock into a rectangle and use white rub on stickers for your scrapbook quotes.

Place the wording in the bottom left hand corner of your page layout so using either double sided tape or 3d foam depending on if you want your quotes to be more prominent.

This scrapbook ideas layout can easily be adapted to suit any animal by simply changing the print on the paper. If the photographs are of a zebra use black and white print, if the photographs contain images of leopard change the paper to a leopard print and so on.

Scrapbooking is one of the nicest ways to preserve and show off some of your favourite photos and can be used with photographs from any era.

To begin making this scrapbook page idea start by selecting a sheet of 12×12 scrapbook paper that is turquoise. If you have some scrapbook paper that is textured it will look a lot nicer than a plain piece of 12×12 paper.

Scrapbook paper needs to be acid and lignin free. If you are purchasing your scrapbooking paper or your scrapbook supplies from a craft supplier you have not used before it is well worth asking the question. This will ensure your scrapbook page layouts will stay bright and fresh, and will not deteriorate over time.

You then need to select a sheet of brown bazzill card stock. Cut along two sides of the scrapbook paper using decorative scissors.

Decorative scissors can be found in most craft and scrapbooking stores and are an essential tool in any good scrapbook enthusiast’s kit bag. They are a tool that scrap bookers will use over and over again and come in a multitude of different designs and sizes.

Place the brown paper on top of the turquoise paper using double sided tape to hold it in place.

If you want to preserve some of the turquoise paper, carefully remove the section that will be covered by the brown scrapbook paper before securing it I place.

Select four sheets of scrapbook paper that have a similar colour theme. Cut the papers into a variety of shapes and sizes. You can use your decorative scissors again here.

Position the papers randomly over the front of the scrapbook page so that some of each paper can be seen, rather like a patchwork quilt effect.

Stick the paper down using double sided tape or micro sticky dots.

Mount your photograph onto white card leaving a very thin border. Then, using double sided tape mount it onto the same turquoise scrapbook paper you used for the background. This time leave a slightly larger border.

Attach your photo to the front of the scrapbook page using 3d foam pads.

Sometimes when you purchase scrapbook paper you pick up the odd matching embellishment or two. If you do not have matching embellishments you could always have a go at making your own from all the left over scraps of paper, throw in a few brads and before you know it you have created your own embellishments.

Place an embellishment in the top right hand corner of the scrapbook page.

Place an embellishment with your wording or scrapbook quotes underneath your photo. Use silver brads to hold your scrapbook quotes in place.

Place some fancy brads down the left hand side of the page.

Next, cut a tag shape from some of the left over paper. Use an eyelet setter to place an eyelet at the top of the tag. Place some brown organza ribbon through the hole at the top of the tag.

Once everything is in place, place the finished scrapbook page in a scrapbook album to keep it in good condition and preserve it for years to come.

I love making Christmas scrapbook layouts because they are always bright, fun and bring back lots of wonderful memories.

Another good thing is you will never be lost for photographs for your Christmas scrapbook pages. In fact you will most likely be faced with the difficult decision of which ones to use.

The backing paper for this scrapbooking page layout is a sheet of red 12”x12” scrapbook paper.

You will also need to select four sheets of Christmas themed paper.

These sheets can be taken from a 6”x6” scrapbook paper pad and cut down slightly to fit on the 12”x12” backing paper.

As you can see here, when the four sheets are placed on the front of the 12”x12” backing paper there is a slight red border around each one.

Select a few of your favourite Christmas photos that will be used on each of the squares.

Cut one of the pictures into a circle. I used a Fiskars cutter to do this, however if you do not have one of these in your card making supplies you can always draw around something circular and cut it out manually with a sharp scalpel.

Cut out two slightly bigger circles in red and green card.

Place the three circles on one of the squares of scrapbook paper. If the paper has a pattern cut away some of the patter so that it overlaps the circles giving it the illusion of holding the photo in place.

Use decorative scissors or a Fiskars cutter to cut out the second photograph.

Mount the photograph onto green card and place on the second square of your Christmas scrapbook paper.

Use a scalpel to make small slits in the paper all the way down the right hand side.

Pass a piece of red organza ribbon through the slits securing it in place at the back of the paper.

You can then add any additional embellishments if you wish.

Next, cut a large square out of the centre of the third piece of scrapbook paper.

Place your photo behind the square securing it at the back of the paper.

Print some journaling onto a sheet of white paper. Use different fonts and colours to make your journaling or scrapbook quotes really stand out.

Use a Fiskars cutter to cut out your scrapbook wording so it has a fancy edge around it.

Place the wording on the fourth sheet of scrapbook paper using double sided tape to hold it in place.

Finally position your squares over the red scrapbook paper and secure them in place using double sided tape. Before sticking each square down, make sure you are happy you have your scrapbook page layout exactly how you want it.

Scrapbooking page layouts do not always have to be crammed full of embellishments, scrapbook quotes or memorabilia. Sometimes keeping your scrapbooking ideas simple can give your pages a modern and smart appearance.

When thinking of ideas for scrapbook pages for a young boy you cannot go far wrong using blues and greens as your main colours.

This scrapbooking page layouts theme has very little in the way of materials and still manages to really catch your eye. I have not over embellished this scrapbook layout and I think by not adding any further detail; it leaves the photograph as the main focal point of the page.

Begin making this scrapbook layout with a large sheet of 12×12 scrapbook paper or card. I find using a thicker paper or even a piece of card as the background makes the whole scrapbook page more solid and easier to work on.

Next, select two 8×8 sheets of scrapbook paper that are mainly blue. Make sure one of the sheets is decorative and the other is just a plain blue.

Place the sheets one on top of the other allowing both to be seen as shown in the above photo.

Use double sided tape to secure the sheets of scrapbook paper together and carefully ink around the edge of the paper.

Inking around the edge of the paper gives your pages a softer look. You can do this with a small piece of sponge. Press the sponge into some blue ink and gently dab it all around the edge of the paper.

The best technique for this is to lift your paper in the air and gently scrape or dab your sponge along the edge. If you try to dab the edge of your paper whilst it is laying flat on your cutting mat, you will end up making an awful mess on your mat and have uneven lines along the edge of your scrapbook paper.

Once the edges are inked you can then attach your coloured papers to the base of your page. Use double sided tape to hold the paper in place.

Cut the photograph you are going to use down to size using either a paper trimmer or a scalpel and metal edge ruler. Using a metal edged ruler when you are cutting with a scalpel will ensure you do not snag the scalpel into the ruler, and end up having poorly cut your photos.

Mount the photograph onto the same patterned paper you used previously leaving a centimetre or two to make a nice frame for the photo.

 
Once again ink all around the edges before mounting it onto the solid blue paper.

 
Place the photograph in the bottom right hand corner of the page using 3d foam.

Use chip board letters to write the name of the child above the photograph. You could also add a date or age if you wish or perhaps some simple scrapbook quotes.

Next you will need to cut nine strips of patterned paper. Make sure they all match up with the papers you have already used and contain the same colours.

Arrange your strips of paper as I have done here or how you feel you want them before sticking them down permanently. When you have the layout you are happy with apply double sided tape in strips down the left hand side of the scrapbook page and place the strips of paper on top.

 
Place blue brads at the end of each strip of paper to finish this scrapbooking layouts modern and simple theme.

Scrapbook layout ideas are sometimes difficult to visualise. A good tip before making your scrapbook pages is to find a piece of paper and a pen.

Roughly draw out where you are going to place photographs and embellishments so that you have a good idea where you will place things when it comes to permanently sticking them down.

Drawing out your scrapbook layout ideas will help you in the long run and save time when you start putting your pages together.

Scrapbook layout ideas of beach scenes work really well if you stick with beach themed colours such as blues, yellows and stone.

Begin with a 12×12 sheet of white bazzill card stock. This is going to be the background for your scrapbook page layout.

 
As shown in the above picture, you now need to cut two strips of scrapbook paper. Your strips will be placed at the top and bottom of your page layout. Use striped paper that contains the colours which will best match a beach scene.

Make sure you cut one strip slightly wider than the other. Place the smaller one near the top of the page and the larger strip near the bottom. Use double sided tape to hold the striped paper in place.

Place both photographs on your scrapbook layout on the right hand side at slight angles to each other. Use double sided tape or photo glue to secure them in place.

Cut out some footprints. You can print, draw or stamp these if you have a footprint stamp.

Place the footprints across the page to give the appearance of someone having walked across your scrapbook page. Use double sided tape to secure these in place.

Print the words ‘buckets of fun’ onto Safmat or white paper and place it between two strips of scrapbook paper.

Safmat is a clear, self adhesive and acid free film which can be used in inkjet printers. Once you have printed your scrapbook quotes onto the film they will be practically transparent making Safmat ideal for use with your scrapbook layout ideas, as you can choose the font and font size of your wording.

Using a shell stamp, stamp out five shells in ink that matches the colours of the stripes.

Place string along the top of your scrapbook page and use 3d foam pads to attach the shells to the string. Using 3d foam pads means they will stand out slightly and have a 3d effect.

Use a Sizzix sandcastle die cutter to cut three sandcastles. If you do not have this die cutter then use any beach themed embellishments or even some memorabilia from your day at the beach.

Place the sandcastles around the wording using 3d foam pads. As with any of your scrapbook layout ideas, always make sure you use products that are acid and lignin free as this will ensure that your scrapbooking pages do not deteriorate over time.

Scrapbook layout ideas for children should always be colourful and joyous. 

Although most little girl scrapbook layout ideas would focus around the colour pink, sometimes it is nice to focus on a different colour. In this case I have used the blue from the dress and added in a few expected girl colours such as yellow and pink.

Begin making this page layout by taking a piece of white 12×12 scrapbook paper from your scrapbooking supplies.

Decide which photograph you are going to use and cut it to the size and shape you require.

Find a piece of blue scrapbook paper that matches the dress or the colour that best matches the person in your photo.

Use the blue scrapbook paper to mount your picture. Mount it leaving approximately a 1cm gap all the way around the photo to form the frame for the picture.

Then mount the picture onto white card leaving the same size gap around the edge.

Find a similar piece of scrapbook paper and cut a large strip using decorative scissors to leave a decorative edge.

Attach the strip to the right hand side of the page using double sided tape.

Cut a smaller panel from the same piece of paper you used to mount your photo onto and mount it onto the page on top of the decorated panel using 3d foam.

Then simply attach your photo using 3d foam.

Print the name of the child onto the blue scrapbook paper. Use a nice font and blue writing so it matches the dress. If you do not have access to a computer or printer then use scrapbook stickers or handwrite your wording.

Cut around the name using decorative scissors to give it a nice edge.

Mount your wording onto white card.

Then attach the name to your scrapbook page layout using double sided tape.

If you have any vellum quotes, place these along the left hand side of the picture. Choose wording that corresponds with your scrapbook page idea.

Now that you have built up the base of this scrapbook page layout it is time to work on the embellishments.

Select some coloured prima flowers and place different coloured buttons inside each flower using sticky dots.

Then attach a strip of ribbon across the scrapbook page before fixing down the prima flowers. Make sure you place the prima flowers on the page before gluing them down so you can get a good idea where you want them to go.

Making scrapbook page layouts of your children is a fantastic way of capturing moments in time and much better than simply adding a photo into a standard photo album.

When you create a scrapbook page you can add so much more to a photo and with the wording and memorabilia you can include in your page layouts you can fondly remember your children’s younger days forever.

Scrapbook layout ideas for young children are always good fun to design.

This scrapbooking page layout has a photo of a young boy on it so I felt it was important to use fun bright scrapbook papers.

Begin by finding a sheet of 12×12 green card stock in your scrapbooking supplies. Bazzill paper would be preferable as it has a texture to it, however if this is not something you have to hand, then any green scrapbook paper will do.

You will then need to select a sheet of diamond patterned paper. Make sure that it also has some green colour in it.

Cut away the outside edges of the paper using a scalpel and metal ruler so the outside edges are no longer straight.

Place the diamond patterned paper on top of the green 12×12 scrapbook paper. Secure it in place using double sided tape or if you prefer you could also use sticky dots, however I find these can become quite messy and difficult to use.

You will need to find a second sheet of green scrapbook paper and mount your photo onto it leaving a 1cm green border all the way round the photograph.

Cut a panel of brown card stock. Again bazzill card stock it preferred.

Tie a length of brown satin ribbon around one edge of the brown card using a simple bow knot.

Cut a second piece of card the same size and print your scrapbook quote onto it. You can also use peel off stickers or rub ons if you prefer. The good thing about using a computer and printer to print off your scrapbook quotes is you can have the font and font size, exactly as you want your wording to be.

Cut four small slits in the right hand side of the card and use the same brown satin ribbon as before and thread it through the slits. Do not pull the ribbon right through, but instead leave an excess of ribbon so you have a ‘loop effect’.

Attach the brown and pink card to the front of your scrapbook page layout at either edge, using double sided tape. You can then place your photo on top using 3d foam.

Next, cut a green piece of card, (the same colour that has been used to mount the photograph) and cut the card the card to the same size as the brown piece using decorative scissors to give the card a patterned edge.

You are going to place a name on the green card. Find some wooden or chip board letters, preferably ones that have been pre decorated or coloured.

Place the green card on the right hand side of your scrapbook page layout.

Place your decorative letters on top of the green card using strong double sided tape to ensure they do not fall off.

To make the rosette embellishments on the scrapbook page you will need to use a Sizzix sidekick machine. If you do not own a Sizzix sidekick machine then you can skip this part of the guide and simply place your own choice of embellishments in place of the rosettes. You could use prima flowers which would work just as well.

The Sizzix sidekick machine cuts images from templates which are passed through it. It is a fantastic little gadget that has so many uses. I would recommend adding this machine to your scrapbook kit bag at the earliest opportunity.

You will need to use a Tim Holtz Strip Die Paper Rosettes template.

Pass the template through the Sizzix sidekick using the plastic guides.

The template will perforate the paper making it really easy to fold the paper back and forward.

Use double sided tape to stick the two ends of the paper together making a circle.

Push the centre of the circle flat onto a table so it forms a rosette shape.

After cutting the rosettes out you should also have a centrepiece. Stick the centrepiece part on to the centre of the rosette using wet glue. You may need to hold this in place for a few minutes until it has dried long enough to keep its shape.

Place a small piece of scrap card onto the back of the rosette. This will be used to fix it in place on your page layout.

Make up several rosettes changing the paper colours, and sizes of the rosettes. Attach them to the bottom left hand corner of the scrapbook page using double sided tape.

Once you have finished adding the rosettes your scrapbook page layout will be complete.

This scrapbook page idea is of two children having fun and pulling faces.

As this scrapbook page layout is of children I felt it important to use bright cheerful colours.

The first thing to do is find a sheet of brightly coloured 12×12 scrapbook paper in your scrapbook supplies

Make sure you have some coordinating papers that can be used along side the main sheet, and some that can be used to mount your photographs onto.

Select two strips of scrapbook paper. Here, I have chosen a stripy paper and a floral paper because they will work well together as one could be used for the boy and the other with the little girl.

Decorate the flower scrapbook paper by adding additional embellishments, such as buttons in the centre of the flowers as I have done so here. You can also add glitter or jewels if you wish.

Place you strips of paper onto your scrapbook page. As I had used off cuts from my scrapbook supplies I did not have enough striped paper to go across the whole of the page.

However as the photo would cover this area this would not be a problem. Always try to keep your radar on, and look out for ways where you can save your scrapbook paper. You never know when you will need that once small piece to complete a scrapbook project.

Mount your photographs onto some similar bright scrapbook paper leaving a 1cm border all around the edge of the photograph.

Place your photographs on the scrapbook page as above, or how you prefer. You can see I have made sure the girl is on the flower paper and the boy on the stripes.

Use double sided tape to keep them in place.

Use decorative scissors or a fiskars cutter to cut a small shape that you can use to add your scrapbook wording.

Mount your scrapbook wording onto some of the paper left over from earlier.

Then place your wording on the scrapbook page layout using 3d foam pads.

You can now add any additional embellishments you may have such as buttons, string or ribbon.

It is always a good idea to add some scrapbook quotes or some sort of wording to set the scene of the photographs. Here I have used the words ‘Say Cheese’.

The word ‘say’ has been printed onto left over scrapbook paper and cut out using the same template as used for the previous wording. The word ‘cheese’ is made from wooden letters.

This idea for a scrapbook page layout is bright and fun and perfect for a children’s scrapbooking page.

Ideas for scrapbook pages are more often than not inspired by holidays and special events. This scrapbooking page layout is of a family day at the beach, whilst on holiday. It is fun and funky and has lots of vibrant colours.

Begin by selecting two different sheets of 12×12 scrapbook paper. One of the papers I have used here is covered in different brightly coloured surf boards. The second was a plain bright blue card, which would be used to break up the busyness of the surf board scrapbook paper.

Next, draw two lines down the right hand side of the page and carefully score around the surf boards using a really sharp scalpel.

Then cut a strip of the blue card and place it behind the surf boards you have just cut with the scalpel. You may find the surf boards hold the blue card in place however I would recommend adding sound double sided tape or sticky dots just to be sure.

 
Now you are ready to find three of your favourite photographs and mount them onto the same blue card that you used down the side of the page layout. Use double sided tape to mount your photos and use a paper trimmer to cut the borders.

It is always a good idea to juggle your photographs around and try different ideas for scrapbook layouts before permanently sticking them down. I decided to use the two similar shaped photographs at the bottom and the longer one at the top.

I used double sided tape to secure the photos in place. If you wanted to make them 3d then you could always use 3d foam which will make them slightly more prominent.

 
The embellishments I used on this scrapbook page layout were purchased from on online craft shop. They worked perfectly with this scrapbook page, as they were brightly coloured and represented the beach really well, with the addition of small jewels and glitter.

 
The embellishments were placed along the blue strip of card as well as around the photos. The embellishments already had adhesive on the back, however if you have purchased something similar that doesn’t already have this I would suggest a really strong double sided tape.

You may have memorabilia from your day, such as a sea shell or donkey ride ticket, so to make your scrapbooking page layout even more memorable you can add any personal memento to your page, instead of embellishments bought from a craft shop.

I think this is a really bright and cheerful scrapbook page idea which is perfect for a summer theme.
